Sean began playing the Highland bagpipes at twelve years old with the 177 Air Cadet Squadron, and went on to play with bands including Winnipeg Celtic and The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders — training grounds that shape the discipline and precision behind every performance today.
Over more than a thousand events, Sean has played for dignitaries including the Governor General of Canada, the Auditor General of Alberta, and the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada — including piping at the Chief Electoral Officers' Conference in Banff and Lake Louise, Alberta, attended by Canada's Chief Electoral Officer alongside CEOs from every province and territory — plus countless weddings, funerals, and Burns Suppers closer to home.
Now based in Croatia, Sean brings that same experience to the Adriatic — piping couples down the aisle in Hvar, marking arrivals by yacht in Split, and adding a Highland send-off to weddings and events the length of the Dalmatian coast.
A career's worth of ceremonies, celebrations and formal occasions.
Trained from age twelve with the 177 Air Cadet Squadron, with band experience alongside Winnipeg Celtic and The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.
Performances for the Governor General of Canada and other high-profile officials.
On the ground across the Adriatic, with international travel available for the right occasion.
Sean's own wedding took place on this same Croatian coast — one of the reasons Croatia now feels less like a relocation and more like a homecoming. That personal connection to the coastline shapes how he approaches every ceremony he's asked to play for here.
The sound of the bagpipes seizes the moment, punctuating it with extra emotion — that's what I try to bring to every event, from the grandest wedding to the quietest memorial.Sean Rathwell
